UELA were engaged to assist in the master planning of this large acreage site. The brief was to consult on the siting of a future residence, co-ordinate a groundwater study, flora and fauna assessment and geo-technical investigations. Once this information was reviewed, we prepared a schematic plan to site a dwelling, tennis court, croquet lawn/putting green, a feature lake/wetland pond and 3-4 golf holes. Several non-indigenous trees and shrubs in poor health were removed to open up the landscape. There was a significant design challenge to address the steep slope of the land. |
Multiple terraces and staircases were created, including an expansive retaining wall to create a ‘foundation’ element for the house. The planting palette was selected for vibrant color, texture and hardiness. An avenue of Maples was added to a new meandering driveway to provide a more intimate arrival experience. Views are captured from several locations throughout the garden and the planting provides a colourful showcase and compliments a number of sculpture pieces. |
